Gemstone Building Surveyors are fully qualified Building Surveyors offering a range of services and advice to include:

• Building Control applications in preference to Local Authority Building Control.

Although we concentrate on working in the East Anglia Area, we can and do cover any application in England or Wales. At present we have projects in London; Essex; Birmingham; Swindon; Hull and Devon.

If your proposed project will affect the party wall of the adjoining property or you intend to excavate a foundation within three meters of an adjoining property you will be required to serve a Party wall notice on the adjoining owners.

As party Wall Surveyors (members of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors) we offer advice and can act for you as your party wall surveyor, we will explain the legal duties and serve all the legal notices keeping you informed at all times.

The Disability Discrimination Act requires that any person with a disability does not experience discrimination either in the work place or access to use of a commercial premises. Unfortunately most premises will not meet the full requirements of the act. To show you have made reasonable provision not to discriminate against the disabled all commercial premises should have a disabled audit. We will carry out a survey on the property and prepare a disability audit tailored to your business.

From October 2008 all premises whenever they are sold or rented must provide the new occupier with an Energy Performance Certificate. As an accredited provider for both commercial and residential we offer an efficient service and provide professional advice on the best method to save energy costs for your project.

Gemstone Building Surveyors are one of the few consultants providing a building control service (in association with Assent Building Control) in East Anglia offering a friendly customer alternative to Local Authority Building Control. Generally on receipt of your application we can have plans checked ready for you to start work within ten working days. We are responsive to our customers, in office hours you will always speak to one of our staff not an answer machine and technical advice always available. Site visits are generally arranged with as little as a days notice though where possible they are undertaken on the same day if requested. Although we do not undertake project design we are always available to offer advice and if there is a problem we will offer you alternatives on how to meet compliance.
